Bakersfield’s Own- Polynesian Boom Boom Room unisex T

$35.00

Bring back the glow of Bakersfield’s mid-century tiki fever with the Polynesian Boom Boom Room Tee, a Kern River Surf Co original inspired by the smoky neon lounges, backyard luaus, and rum-heavy party stories passed down from parents, uncles, and neighbors who swear they were there.

• 100% ring-spun cotton
• Shoulder-to-shoulder taping
• Quarter-turned to avoid crease down the center

This shirt is printed on demand, which means we fire up the volcanic tiki furnace only after you place your order. It may take a few extra days because the Boom Boom Room’s production crew insists on stopping for mai tais halfway through the process.

No returns or exchanges unless we screwed something up — which is unlikely, but hey, stranger things have happened in Bakersfield after three rum drinks.

Order responsibly. Hydrate accordingly. And if your uncle says he remembers the original Polynesian Boom Boom Room… he doesn’t. He just wants the shirt.

Slip into the neon glow of Bakersfield’s lost tiki nightlife with The Polynesian Boom Boom Room Tee, a Kern River Surf Co original that celebrates one of the most infamous, most debated, and most fondly misremembered hotspots in Central Valley history.

Long before the Truxtun Lakes Yacht Club developed its reputation for refined mischief, nautical snobbery, and lakeside sophistication, the Club’s earliest members were known to end their evenings at a certain dimly lit Polynesian lounge off the riverfront. Depending on who you ask, the Boom Boom Room was either a legitimate tropical bar, a repurposed bait shop with torches, or a figment of Bakersfield’s communal imagination fueled by rum-heavy cocktails and questionable decision-making.

This shirt pays tribute to those legendary nights.

Front and center is a bold vintage-tiki illustration featuring the iconic grimacing tiki idol, flanked by palms, waves, fire, and a martini glass worthy of the Club’s notoriously strong Truxtun Lake Lime Rippers. The text proclaims “The Polynesian Boom Boom Room – Bakersfield,” a nod to the place where half the Yacht Club’s founding members allegedly met, celebrated questionable regatta victories, and on at least one occasion tried to convince a bartender to register their Mai Tai as an official maritime hazard.

There’s even the classic KRSCo Sun printed beneath the back collar — a quiet symbol recognized by river rats, canal surfers, and TLYC members as a mark of insider lore.

Soft, durable, and made for every type of Kern River adventurer, this tee is perfect for:

  • yacht club captains with more stories than clean records

  • tiki enthusiasts and mid-century romantics

  • Kern River Surf Co loyalists

  • Truxtun Lakes Yacht Club members who know the Boom Boom Room is absolutely real (no matter what the county records say)

Wear it to the Club, wear it to the lake, or wear it to your next backyard luau where the stories get bigger, funnier, and stranger after sunset.

Raise a glass, claim your membership, and keep the legend alive — the Boom Boom Room never closed… it just went underground.
