Boudreaux’s Bayou Petting Zoo is not most petting zoos.
The newly redesigned Boudreaux’s tee makes the featured attraction impossible to miss. Across the back, an oversized Louisiana alligator dominates the Boudreaux’s Bayou Petting Zoo graphic, surrounded by the updated hand-drawn lettering. It’s less a logo than a helpful illustration of exactly what you’re expected to pet.
The front gets its own new Boudreaux’s treatment, combining the gator with the familiar Kern River Surf Co sunset colors—a little Louisiana bayou grafted onto California surf culture.
Somewhere around Grand Isle, the story goes, Boudreaux figured New Orleans tourists had seen enough jazz clubs, swamp tours and respectable attractions. What they really needed was a more interactive wildlife experience.
Kern River Surf Co agreed to sponsor it.
We probably shouldn’t have.
Available in Navy, Dark Heather, Natural and White, this is a souvenir from the Louisiana branch of the KRSCo universe: part surf culture, part roadside attraction, and part terrible idea that somehow made it past the planning stage.
Please don’t actually pet the alligators. Boudreaux hates doing paperwork.
