There was a time when Bakersfield had places you didn’t need directions to.
You just knew them.
Green Frog Market was one of those places—a local grocery institution whose signs, stores and unmistakable personality became part of everyday life in Bakersfield and Kern County.
And few things summed up Green Frog better than two simple words:
HOWDY FOLKS.
It wasn’t slick corporate branding dreamed up in a conference room. It sounded like Bakersfield. Friendly, uncomplicated and just a little old-fashioned—even when it wasn’t old-fashioned yet.
The Green Frog Market “Howdy Folks” Tee from Kern River Surf Co. brings that familiar piece of local history back as wearable Bakersfield nostalgia.
